Conventional critical minerals processing relies on solvent extraction: hundreds of mixer-settler stages, weeks of processing time, and capital costs that have kept the industry offshore for decades. ARM took a different path.


What We Do
A fundamental departure from solvent extraction
Our platform integrates selective leaching, continuous ion exchange (CIX), and simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography into a single continuous, closed-loop process.
Once metals are in solution, the platform is feedstock-agnostic — the same core system that processes coal ash can process mine tailings or shredded electronic waste, separating complex multi-metal mixtures into individual high-purity products.

Chromatographic separation of rare earth elements and other metals from chloride media. This technology was developed under a DOE research program and exclusively licensed to ARM worldwide.
ARM also owns a growing patent-pending portfolio invented by Dr. William R. Sutterlin who is named inventor on more than 100 patents and applications: (1) zinc and iron recovery from electric arc furnace dust (U.S. App. Pub. 2025/0011897, with international protection filed under the PCT), and (2) systems and methods for lithium and lithium carbonate recovery and purification from brines, clays, and digested ores (U.S. Provisional Ser. No. 63/864,600, filed August 15, 2025).
